Kuala Lumpur – MIC Vice President Datuk T.Mohan was sworn in as a Senator today in the presence of MIC President Datuk Seri Dr S.Subramaniam and several MIC leaders.
In a press statement released today, T.Mohan thanked Prime Minister Dato Sri’ Najib Tun Razak and MIC President Datuk Seri Dr S.Subramaniam for placing trust and confidence on him.
“On this memorable day (16 November 2017) as I take the oath with humility as a member of the august house of Dewan Negara, I thank Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Najib Bin Tun Razak and MIC President Datuk Seri Dr S.Subramaniam for placing trust and confidence on me to appoint as a Senator. I am also fully aware of the responsibilities and expectations that come with this noble appointment. I would like to assure the Barisan Nasional government, MIC and the Indian Community that I will discharge my duties and responsibilities as per their expectations” Mohan said in his statement.
Mohan also noted that coming from a humble family background from Puchong, this appointment is a great honour for him and his family. The appointment also signifies that MIC leadership always considers and rewards service oriented, hard-working leaders, he further noted.
“I am also fully aware that this appointment is also in recognition of my services to the Indian community in the field of Sports and for developing MIFA as a formidable and reputable Sports organisation, which has resulted in the creation of hundreds of Indian sportsmen and sportswomen with lucrative income coupled with a bright future. Appointment, as a Senator, has also given me, added inspiration and drive to work even harder for the party, Indian community and the Barisan Nasional government initiatives. As a Senator and with the positions in the party, I will continue to work for the betterment of the Indian community” Mohan said.
He also thanked his mentor and former MIC President Tun Samy Vellu.
“On this day, I also remember and would like to place on record my gratitude to my mentor and guide, former MIC President Tun S.Samy Vellu, for all his advice and guidance in my political career” he noted.
