Kuala Lumpur – The Indian High Commission in Kuala Lumpur, in a press statement released today paid condolences on the passing way of Mrs.Meenachee Perumal former veteran of Indian National Army.
“We are deeply saddened to hear the news of the passing away of Mrs Meenachee Perumal in Kuala Lumpur. Mrs Meenachee Perumal was one of the distinguished veterans who served in the Rani of Jhansi Regiment, Indian National Army of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose during India’s fight for independence from the British. We would like to pay our humble homage to the veteran freedom fighter, and to the extraordinary courage and valour, she exhibited in the Rani of Jhansi Regiment fighting alongside the great Indian freedom fighter Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. She displayed remarkable selflessness in joining the Indian National Army and distinguished herself on the war-front. Her contribution will always be remembered. The High Commissioner of India and the Defence Advisor visited her family in Kuala Lumpur to pay their last respects” the press statement noted.
“When the statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was unveiled on 18 June 2016 at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Indian Cultural Centre premises in Kuala Lumpur, Mrs Meenachee Perumal was one of the Chief Guests who participated on this occasion and unveiled the statue. The patriotic songs of the Indian National Army which she had sung on that occasion, inspired and moved one and all in the audience. The High Commission of India would like to convey its deepest condolences to the family of the great freedom fighter Mrs Meenachee Perumal” the press statement further noted.
