KUALA LUMPUR — Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today urged the government to immediately set up a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on the issue of un-refunded Goods and Services Tax (GST) and overpaid income tax and property gains tax.
He said this was necessary because RM35 billion of public funds was involved.
“This is to find out the truth to ascertain whether the (previous) BN (Barisan Nasional) government, Customs (Department) and LHDN (Inland Revenue Board) had committed a breach of trust or the PH (Pakatan Harapan) government is pursuing its political game,” he said in posts on his Facebook and Twitter accounts.
Najib said he believed that the people should know and be given an understanding of what had actually happened.
