Abdullah Md ZainBESUT, April 1 – Religious advisor to the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Abdullah Md Zain(Pic) today called on PAS Youth assistant secretary 1 Khairul Fahmi Mat Som to withdraw and make a public apology for his tweet which was deemed as an insult to Islam and Prophet Muhammad.

He also described the tweet posted on March 27 at 11.58am, which read “Kalau Nabi Muhammad saw masih hidup sekarang ni, mungkin video seks Baginda pun Umno akan dikeluarkan … Jahanam Umno.” , as outrageous and extremely rude.  Abdullah said the Khairul Fahmi was probably overwhelmed with emotion in view of the next general election and did not think when he posted the tweet that had clearly hurt the religious feelings of Muslims.

“How can we compare Prophet Muhammad, the most perfect, noble, holy and ideal Muslim, as well as father and husband, loved most by Allah, to any living individual?” he told reporters here after attending ‘Ramah Mesra’ programme with

“I’m sure the tweet was meant to tarnish Umno’s name and the allegation is indeed baseless as Umno has nothing to do with the distribution of sex video allegedly involving the opposition leader,” he said.  Abdullah said stern action must be taken against Khairol Fahmi for making such a remark.

“I also hope that the PAS leader will repent and stop issuing statements in anger, in haste and based on emotion to the extent of causing Islam to be deemed as extreme and lost the respect of other races and religions in the world,” he added.

In KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysian Islamic Development Department director-general Datuk Othman Mustapha today reminded all politicians to practice courtesy and kindness and to be sensitive in making statements, especially concerning religious issues.

“I would like to advise all quarters, especially politicians, to practice courtesy and kindness.

“For a Muslim to link Prophet Muhammad to the sex video issue is so wrong. Such act, whether done verbally or in writing can be categorised as insulting, ridiculing and humiliating the Prophet,” he said in a statement today.
