KUALA LUMPUR, April 26 – Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin tonight called on voters in the Segambut parliamentary constituency to reject the opposition pact in the 13th general election (GE13).
The deputy prime minister said the opposition’s record showed that it failed to contribute to the area’s development, hence he believed that Barisan Nasional (BN) was capable of wresting back the seat on May 5.
“I think the voters know what could be contributed by the opposition candidate. I believe they are also aware BN could do for the area if it is chosen to represent the area.
“So, I appeal for cooperation from all residents of Segambut to give their support and votes to the BN candidate for the area, Jayanthi Devi Balaguru in the GE13, as I believe she has some plans for the people here,” he said in his speech when visiting the Segambut BN operations centre, here.
Also present was Gerakan president Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon.
Muhyiddin, who is also the Federal Territories (FT) BN chairman, said much more development could be brought by BN to the Segambut area as it was proven that the federal government had brought a lot of development to the Klang Valley despite winning only three of the 13 FT seats.
“I believe with voters here giving their full support to Jayanthi, her development plans for Segambut could materialise and benefit the residents with the assistance of the federal government,” he said.
Jayanthi will be challenging Lim Lip Eng from DAP for the Segambut seat which has 75,631 voters.
