Chief Minister Datuk Idris Haron (photo) the council, which would be made up of experts in housing, economy, social and politics, would act as a think-tank to study needs and suitable prices for affordable homes in Melaka.
He said State Housing, Local Government and Environment Committee chairman Datuk Ismail Othman would act as coordinator to the council which would also study and propose needs, demands, locations and the number of affordable houses required.
He said currently the prices of affordable homes in the state differed. For example, in Asahan, Jasin, the prices of affordable homes are between RM60,000 and RM80,000 compared to RM80,000 to RM125,000 in Kelebang, Melaka Tengah, he added.
