New Delhi – Portugal Prime Minister Anthonio Costa, currently on official visit to India, presented Portugal football team’s t-shirt to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, personally autographed by famous International footballer Christiano Ronaldo.
Anthonio Costa met Prime Minister Modi in New Delhi on Saturday (January 7) and held talks on bilateral relationships between both countries. During this meeting Anthonio presented Modi, the t-shirt personally autographed by Ronaldo bearing the number “7”.
Next day (Sunday 8th January) Anthonio headed to Bangalooru where he attended the Pravasi Bharathiya Divas 2017 (PBD) inaugurated by Modi.

Many were surprised why a Prime Minister from an European country such as Portugal is attending PBD which is the forum for overseas Indians.
“India is my father’s country” declared Anthonio on his twitter page, when announcing his visit to India. Anthonio’s father hails from Goa, an Indian territory held by Portugal as its colony for 450 years until 1961.
Anthonio will be continuing his official visit, with a visit to Goa today and tomorrow, where he will visit his ancestral home and meet his cousins and relatives.
Anthonio also attended “Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit” in Gujarat’s capital Ahmadabad, together with India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
