LANGKAWI, March 27 (Bernama) — Kedah Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) will counter the claims made in the “Sayangi Kedah Sejahtera” (Love Prosperous Kedah” book produced by the PAS-led state government as it has been found to contain alot of factual errors.

Kedah BN chairman Datuk Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah said the book did not portray what actually happened in the state.

“We will reply to those claims made (in the book). The book has come about only because of the upcoming general election. In the book, there are a lot of lies…(about) the Kuin (Kolej Universiti Insaniah), development, logging…all are not true.

“They (state government) claim to have built the mosque in Bukit Selambau. It was me who officiated at the ground-breaking ceremony. One hundred per cent of the money (to build the mosque) came from the federal government. It is true that the mosque was built during the current state government’s administration but they did not pay for it,” he told Bernama, here.

Ahmad Bashah said the PAS-led state government’s action of lying to the people through the book would be in vain as the people were smart enough to judge its content.

“The people have heard, seen and known enough. They have experienced five years of their (Pakatan Rakyat) rule. Now the people are sighing,” he added.

The “Sayangi Kedah Sejahtera” book, published by the Kedah government’s Information Secretariat, was launched on March 17 and was then given out free to the public.

The content of the book has been disputed by many quarters, especially Umno and BN leaders, as it contains factual inaccuracies.
Among the claims made in the book is the building of 12 mosques in Kedah between 2008 and 2012 by the current state government when they were all actually built by the federal government.
