IPOH: The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah and Raja Permaisuri Perak Tuanku Zara Salim have expressed their condolences over the passing of retired educationist, Datuk Seri N.S. Selvamany.
Selvamany breathed his last from old age at 93 at his home here, last Tuesday.
Sultan Nazrin in his wreath ahead of Selvamany’s funeral this Saturday said the nation has lost a remarkable man who had dedicated his life to the cause of better education for the nation.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of Datuk Seri N.S. Selvamany who was a dear friend to my late father, Duli Yang Maha Mulia Sultan Azlan Shah since their school days in Batu Gajah,” said Sultan Nazrin.
The Ruler also wished the Selvamany family would be granted serenity and peace during this time of grief.
It is understood that funeral service of former the Tokoh Guru Perak and Tokoh Guru Kebangsaan will be held at his house in Persiaran Anderson, here this Saturday at 9am before the cremation at Kek Look Seah Crematorium in Bercham.
Meanwhile, a member of Dewan Negara Perak, Datuk Seri Mohd Annuar Zaini and his wife Datin Seri Zavirah Shaari in their wreath said Selvamany was not only a teacher but a friend who was a true inspiration to generations.
“He was also a father to many whose lives have been touched and developed by him to be individuals who have risen to prominence.
“He had not only guided and taught me but he too, had inspired my children, Azril and Alyaa in many different ways, the knowledge that his legacy and the fond memories of him live on forever in our hearts,” he said.
