8 April 2013-SriLanka census department has taken steps to release report on human rights violations committed by the Indian military personals while in SriLanka.
Through this steps Lankan government willing to control the pressure made by the Indian and Western nations on hounding independent international investigations on Lankan war crimes.
Census department currently collects information’s on injured and dead people during the Indian Army activity in the country. For the first time census department collects data’s on individuals killed and injured during the JVP insurgency period.
Head of the Census Department C.A.Gunawardene said this activity would be ended up within in the time period six months. Speaking to media he said through this report they are willing to inform international community on killings committed by Indian army while in SriLanka on 1980.
