“The mural is an indispensable component of the town’s heritage as it reflects the glory of the old Taiping and conveys the fascinating story of bygone years.

“Today we celebrate this event by displaying her (Amelia Maey Earhart) image in Taiping as she did stop here in her solo flight,” he said at a press conference after the presentation of the Biggest OutDoor 3D Mural Painting certificate event at Jalan Abdul Jalil here today.

At the ceremony, Borhan representing MPT, received the certificate from MBOR operations, research and marketing manager Edwin Yeoh Tiong Chin.

Borhan also said that another 12 paintings will be installed around Taiping town to capture its history and essence since its inception in 1874.

He said some of the murals to be installed including a 670m-long piece along the Taiping Prison wall next year as well those depicting Perak athletes for bringing glory to the state in various national and international levels’ competitions including Olympian Junaidah Aman (athletics) and Datuk M. Karathu (football).

“At least six murals will be painted in the first three months next year and then the rest will continue,” he said.
