Selangor govt respects people’s mandate given in GE14

SHAH ALAM:  The Selangor state government will continue to respect the mandate entrusted to the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition by the people in the last General Election, to implement agendas beneficial for the people.

Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari in a statement today said the stance was taken following a meeting with the chairman of Selangor Pakatan Harapan (PH) component parties and the state’s Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) chairman Datuk Abdul Rashid Asari.

He said the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah was satisfied with the explanation that the state government intends to continue its commitment to realise the mandate given by the people in the 14th General Election (GE14) in 2018.

“Tuanku has given his consent for the Selangor state government administration to function and operate as usual,” he said in a statement, today.

Earlier, Amirudin, who is also Selangor PKR Leadership Council chairman, had an audience with Sultan Sharafuddin at Istana Bukit Kayangan here at 9 am together with Selangor DAP chairman Gobind Singh Deo and Selangor Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) chairman Ir Izham Hashim .

However, Bersatu’s Abdul Rashid, who is also state Culture, Tourism, Malay Civilisation and Heritage Committee chairman was not seen at the palace.

Selangor has 56 state seats and at this point its composition is 20 seats controlled by PKR, DAP (16), Amanah (8), Bersatu (5), Barisan Nasional (5), PAS (1) and independent (1).
