PUTRAJAYA, March 7- Women cannot be sidelined, left out or just be on the receiving end of the country’s development, but should get involved more actively as the agents of change, Prime Minister’s wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor(pic) said.

Rosmah, who is the patron of the Malaysian Association of Wives of Civil Servants and Women Civil Servants (Puspanita), said this was because women were the main pillars and agents of development and change.

MM7I9212copy7“In line with development, women are seen as the strategic partners capable of becoming the contributors of the country’s economic growth and prosperity, as well as social wellbeing,” she said when opening the 31st Puspanita annual general meeting at Puspanitapuri here today.

Present were Chief Secretary to the Government Datuk Seri Dr Ali Hamsa and Puspanita president Datin Seri Rohani Abdullah.  Meanwhile, Rosmah also advised Puspanita members to develop their own network, just like the men’s ‘old boy’s club’, by organising various activities and programmes among themselves outside their normal working hours.

“For example, a woman holding the post of secretary-general, director-general or deputy director-general can organise a mentoring programme for young women civil servants with potential to become like her.

“If this can be done, I believe more women will hold top posts in the civil service one day,” she said, adding that Puspanita should also organise English classes to improve the command of English among the women civil servants.
