ali-rustamTEMERLOH, March 30- The people should be wise in judging the credibility of opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who has been rejected by many of his own friends and senior party leaders who even quit the opposition pact.

Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam said they left the party after realising that something was not right about the opposition leader.

“The opposition is now in disarray. Last time, they (the leaders) agreed to appoint Anwar (as opposition leader) but he is now rejected by many of them as he has moral issues while to be prime minister, one needs of have integrity and vision.

“Anwar’s personality is so different from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s, who has proven his good standing although be has only been at the helm of the nation for four years,” he said when opening the Blue Wave Gathering and launching the Temerloh Barisan Nasional (BN) Volunteers movement, here, today.

Also present were Temerloh Umno division chief Datuk Mohd Sharkar Shamsudin, deputy chief Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah, MCA division chief Datuk Chuah Boon Seong, MIC division chief A.Sivalingam, Gerakan division chief Ong Boon Hong and PPP division chief  N.Nagarajan.

Mohd Ali, who is also Melaka chief minister, said the opposition was incapabable of ruling the country as the parties were disunited, and intolerant and suspicious of each other, unlike the BN component parties.

He said the people should be wise in making their choice in the upcoming general election, adding that only BN could bring progress and development to the people and nation.

In SUNGAI SIPUT, Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi, also an Umno Supreme Council member, said Anwar seemed to be so desperate to gain power that he was willing to surrender a seat belonging to PKR, of which he is the de facto leader, to DAP.

“Anwar is an irresponsible person and the type who can backstab his own party member as he is not confident that PKR will do well in the upcoming general election.

That was why he has given the Gelang Patah parliamentary seat for DAP to contest,” he said after performing the ground-breaking for the building of the SJK (T) Taman Heawood.

He was asked to comment on Anwar’s move of announcing DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang as the opposition candidate for the Gelang Patah seat.

Mohd Puad said Anwar’s political future was now dependent on DAP and not his own party, as PKR would also make way for DAP to contest the Bentong parliamentary seat.

“What has happened to Johor PKR chairman Datuk Chua Jui Meng? Until now, it is not known where he will be contesting as he is being kicked around like a football by Anwar.

“The DAP’s intention to use the PAS symbol in the elections (if the party is suspended) also shows DAP’s distrust of PKR,” he said.

Mohd Puad believed that by contesting in Gelang Patah and a number of other BN strongholds in Johor, DAP was not trying to take over the state but to shift public attention from their old seats where they failed to serve well.
