KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian hotel operators will now be assisted by private healthcare providers in dealing with the spread of COVID-19.

This will be enabled by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed today between the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) and the Global Doctors Malaysia (GDM), aimed at providing medical and healthcare support to MAH members.

The MoU that would take immediate effect by extending health, preparedness and community health advisory to hoteliers, was signed by MAH president Kamaruddin Baharin and GDM executive chairman Datuk Dr Sharifah Fauziah Alhabshi.

Sharifah Fauziah said the initiative with MAH would help mitigate health situations and minimise the negative impact to the country’s tourism industry.

“The tourism industry is susceptible to the impact of global health crisis first-hand. Global Doctors is committed in providing the best medical services to MAH and its members,” she said in a press conference after the MoU signing ceremony here today.

GDM’s medical services cover primary and secondary care, ambulatory care, emergency medical services, vaccination clinics, corporate healthcare management services as well as tertiary network referral services.

The services are provided over its network of centres and clinics in Malaysia, China, Indonesia and Thailand.
